Casa de Abuela Garden (2024)
Between 2022 and 2024, I worked as an Arts Engagement consultant with Punto Urban Art Museum (PUAM), the public art program within North Shore Community Development Coalition (North Shore CDC) in Salem, MA. In this role, I developed and supported various creative placemaking projects alongside PUAM's Design and Placemaking Project Manager.
I was asked to put together a garden installation to coincide with Casa de Abuela, an interactive "casita" that will share intergenerational stories and objects from the Dominican Republic and Point Neighborhood in Salem, MA.
I laid out the design of the garden installation, purchased supplies, and coordinated volunteers from North Shore CDC, SPUR North Shore, and the Salem Community Garden. Inspired by makeshift gardens in the Dominican Republic, volunteers and I filled various planters and repurposed tires with plants, placed succulents into plastic piggie banks, and painted wooden pallets to hang more plants.

In addition to this physical install, I designed a manual that laid out general operations for Casa de Abuela, centralizing project information and listing responsibilities for seasonal "Casa de Abuela Ambassadors" and supervisors.
